Nikollë Camaj
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro
Nikollë Camaj is an Albanian politician and intellectual with a long and distinguished career serving the Albanian community in Montenegro. Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, a position he won with 43 votes in favour and none against in August 2024.Camaj has rich professional experience as a professor of Albanian language and literature, with over 20 years of teaching at the Tuzi Gymnasium.
His activity also extends to the social and political sphere, where he has held important positions such as assistant secretary for information, president of the Tuzi Municipal Assembly, director of the Tuzi Utility Company, and councillor in the Tuzi Municipality for several terms. He is one of the founders of the Democratic League in Montenegro (LDnMZ) in 1990, which was the first Albanian political entity in the country. Camaj has also been the president of the Albanian Democratic League and currently holds the title of "Honorary President" of this party.
As Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Camaj is committed to the full integration of Albanians into the state institutions of Montenegro and the realization of their rights, which have been denied for decades. He has emphasized that the inclusion of Albanians in power is vital for fulfilling pre-election promises and strengthening the country's Euro-Atlantic orientation.
