Enver Hoxhaj
Minister of Foreign Affairs and deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo
He has published scientific papers in English, German, and Albanian on issues of ethnicity, nationalism, identity, and ethnic conflicts. He has also delivered various lectures at many universities around the world, such as the University of Oxford, University College London, Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, etc. Since 2006, he has been elected Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Pristina.
Enver Hoxhaj (born January 13, 1969) is a Kosovar politician. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. Since [year missing in original], Enver Hoxhaj has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pristina. From 2003 to 2004, he was a research fellow at the London School of Economics, at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance. His publications include studies and articles on ethnic conflict, nation and nationalism, intervention, and international governance published in Western journals and publications in English and German.
On February 22, 2011, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj was elected Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo. During the negotiation process (2005 – 2007), led by the UN Special Envoy, President Martti Ahtisaari, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj was part of the Kosovar delegation in all meetings. The Ahtisaari Document resulted in the comprehensive proposal for Kosovo's independence. As Chairman of the Committee for Education, Culture, and Youth in the Assembly of Kosovo, he presented the strongest voice on issues of education, youth, and the modernization of Kosovo.
On January 9, 2008, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj was elected Minister of Education, Science, and Technology. Mr. Enver Hoxhaj graduated in 1993 from the University of Pristina - History Department. He continued his regular postgraduate studies at the University of Vienna's Geisteswissenschaftliche Fakultät, attending lectures in history and political science. After extensive research from 1994-2000 at the Universities of Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Bologna, Florence, and Paris, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis. During his stay in Austria, he was a research associate at the University of Vienna and leader of the research team for the Balkans at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institut für Menschenrechte (1996-2000).During 2003-2004, he was a research fellow at the London School of Economics – Centre for the Study of Global Governance.
